Smokoo Scam Clarification

There are many pay-to-bid sites out there that pose as the real thing but in actual fact are a scam, and Smokoo scam claims are inaccurately being made on the internet. It is true that the internet is full of scam artists who unfortunately tend to give the rest of us a bad name.

The Smokoo scam claim is completely untrue: in fact, Smokoo is a legitimate pay-to-bid site, and the only one in the world that prides itself on having an open door policy. This means we welcome you to join us at our offices for a tour and cup of coffee. We will also endeavour to answer any questions you may have as to why Smokoo scam claims are completely unfounded.

Smokoo is run by a team of creative, well known, hardworking individuals with the collective goal of making Smokoo the world’s most exciting shopping experience. Take a look at our Meet the Team page to see who is behind the scenes making the magic happen.

To clear up some of the Smokoo scam misconceptions, let’s run through a few key points:

  • Smokoo offers only brand-new, fully guaranteed items in their original packaging for auction.
  • The Smokoo scam claim is untrue because we make profits on certain auctions. Like any business, we need to make a profit in order to continue operating. It is true that some auctions can generate good profits, but this certainly does not make Smokoo a scam. For many of the auctions, the profits may just cover our operating costs and sometimes an auction can actually return a loss. You must remember, Smokoo is a typical business.
  • There are NO bots and NO shill bidding is taking place. No employee of Smokoo or immediate family member of an employee is permitted to take part in an auction. The outcome of an auction is determined by the bidders alone and subject to an independent audit.
  • One of the biggest factors illustrating the point that the Smokoo scam claims are untrue is our winner’s page and winners videos. All the users you thought were bots (just because they win, doesn’t mean they are bots) can be seen on the winner’s page.

Please, we encourage you to give us a call if you have any further questions as to why Smokoo is in no way, shape or form a scam. Smokoo scam claims are an unfair criticism that has been made within a narrow sector of the blogosphere. We have made ourselves available to answer questions and engage the authors of these blogs but in most instances they never take us up on the offer.

At the end of the day, we would hate for you to miss out on an incredible shopping experience where you can pick up the hottest deals just because a few bloggers have misunderstood our business model.

Come visit us, give us a call or drop us a mail if you’re concerned about any Smokoo scam issues at support@smokoo.com.
